Faculty-Led Programs for Athletes

You instructor is Tara Michael, one of the Founders of Global Players.
Tara has traveled to more than 70 countries and has lived in seven (7) playing, coaching, and speaking to Athletes, Coaches, and Educators about the benefits and opportunities of travel and sport.
As a Division I NCAA Women’s Lacrosse player, Michael studied abroad in South Africa and Namibia. She later became the Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year and went on to play and coach in Australia, England, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Spain before settling in The Netherlands where she coached the Dutch U19's and Senior Women’s National Team.
Michael graduated cum laude with a MBA/MSc from Amsterdam Business School and she has proven success in getting buy-in from athletic departments across the U.S. and expanding the Global Players international athletic network. Michael has received awards in public speaking, innovation, and she was a two-time member of the Diversity Abroad Athlete Task Force.

Course Syllabus
01
Program Roadmap
In Lesson 1 we detail how to proceed, and explain a bit about why this training program works well in adopting the Faculty-Led model for a cohort of Student-Athletes from all different sports.
02
Vision & Values
Learn the GP Methodology of designing a program for Athletes based on the four (4) pillars: Learn, Play, Travel, and Serve. Listen to this module over and over again as it's the foundation and framework for a great program with vision and value.
03
Athlete Mindset
Just like when we travel, it's important to speak the language of the Host Culture. In this module we give you a better understanding of needs of Athletes and Coaches and an overview of NCAA Compliance so you can speak to these in the presentation.
04
Build a Team
Getting key people in the Athletic Department onboard is crucial to the program launch and longevity. We tell you exactly who to contact and how they can add value and help get buy-in from Athletes and Coaches.
05
Present to Coaches
This is crucial, and it's a science. All the trainings, designing the program, learning a new language and choosing a Course and Professor up to this point are preparing you to present to Coaches with confidence.
06
Enroll Athletes
In this module you learn how to enroll and advise Athletes once they are flowing into your office. By this point you are more comfortable with the content, contacts, and you are excited to meet Athletes from different Sports coming in to apply!
07
Contact International Teams
Once your Itinerary is ready and you have enrolled Athletes we put you in touch with Athletic Contacts from our GP Partner Network in 25 countries and counting.
08
Game Time
A closing lesson on how best to engage and support the Athletes while abroad and a reminder to enjoy the ride and #playtheglobe.
